ABOUT SHELFSIDE BUILDING AND MAINTENANCE

Founded over 10 years ago on the belief that there was a better way to deliver maintenance services in the social housing sector, placing value and importance on customer service and high satisfaction, it is a belief that continues to be at the core of our business today.

Our mission is ‘working with you, not for you’ and our people are at the heart of helping us to achieve this.
Our dedicated and skilled team of professionals form the backbone of our company and across all areas we employee almost 100 staff, incorporating both direct and subcontracted employees.
We want to encourage our people to develop and grow, ensuring they are inspired to be the best they can be from the moment they join us, to feel proud to be part of Shelfside and excited about their future working as part of our Team.
Offering regular training and progression opportunities where possible we like to recognise hard work and potential and promote internally. In recent years we’ve had Managers and Apprentices grow through the business. Working with the CITB and investing in and employing locally helps us to give back to the communities that support us.
"Employing locally helps us to give back to the communities that support us."
Understanding that the industry can present many challenges you’ll see the we are continuously improving our policies and procedures, not only to keep abreast of the latest legislation, but to ensure that we work the safest protocols with the least impact on our environment. And it’s not just our business that sees the value in giving back to local communities.

WE CARE (SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY)
With over 10 years’ experience and knowledge of the social housing sector Shelfside is committed to delivering value for money, and making a meaningful difference to the communities we work in.
Whether it be recruiting local apprentices and trainees, implementing more environmentally aware practices or supporting local groups and charities, we believe an investment in our communities is an investment in the future.
Our corporate responsibility programme is at the heart of our business. It is an integral part of how we operate and fundamental to our philosophy and target to be an innovative and sustainable business. It provides an action plan for best practices and a framework for measuring and reporting internal and external progress. We hope that it will also provide a platform to encourage.
In 2016 we developed a set of standards to help our people, our business, our communities and our environment. These five key areas were seen as the most important as identified by our staff, clients and communities. Shelfside promises to develop these principles in:
Investing in employee development
Reducing our environmental footprint
Supporting local economies
Working in the community
Improving our performance and business ethics
